Hospital and Health System Financial Performance Data Submissions

Overview

CHIA collects annual and quarterly financial reports from hospital health systems, acute hospitals, and their affiliated physician organizations. CHIA uses this information for financial monitoring and also publishes this information in annual and quarterly industry publications as well as individual online hospital profiles and databooks. All data is required in accordance with 957 CMR 9.00.

Submission Deadline

Quarterly hospital standardized financial filings must be submitted no later than 45 days after the end of each of the first 3 quarters in an entity’s fiscal year.

Annual hospital standardized financial filings, referred to as the Q5 filing, must be submitted no later than 100 days after the end of an entity’s fiscal year.

Reporting Requirements

All financial data will be submitted by health system using a pre-formatted Excel temple. Systems with 3 or more acute hospitals will receive a custom template directly from CHIA. Systems with 2 or fewer acute hospitals will download the standard template from this page.
