CHIA’s Case Mix and MA APCD assets are available to state agencies, providers, payers, and researchers seeking data for health care research in the public interest. Other CHIA data is accessible to the public under Massachusetts public records law and available by sumitting a request.
MA APCD & Case Mix Data
CHIA’s two major data sources—Case Mix Databases and the MA All-Payer Claims Database (MA APCD)—are available to government agencies, providers, payers, and researchers for purposes such as public health research, cost analysis, quality improvement, and policy development. The application process is similar for both datasets and may vary slightly depending on the applicant type (government vs. non-government), the purpose of the request, and the type of data requested.
Public Records Request (PRR)
Cost reports and financial information from a variety of providers are available by submitting a public records request. Note that a number of public records may be found on chiamass.gov and do not require a request, including the annual budget, meeting minutes, and recent cost reports from hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and resident care facilities.
