NOTE: Requests for MassHealth rate-setting records, such as rate sheets, rate letters, and rate calculation and methodology records, should be directed to the Executive Office of Health and Human Services.
Public records requests concerning the Betsy Lehman Center are fulfilled by CHIA.
Overview
CHIA accepts public records requests (PRR) to provide access to the data and materials it maintains. Requests are reviewed and fulfilled in accordance with Massachusetts public records law, with timely responses and guidance when needed. Some public records are available on chiamass.gov and do not require a PRR.
CHIA recommends submitting the online public records request form below for the most efficient and accurate response. Written requests may also be delivered by hand, U.S. mail, or email.
While requests for public records may be made orally in person to CHIA’s Records Access Officer (RAO), such requests may not be the subject of an appeal. Telephone requests may be accepted at the discretion of the RAO.
Records Access Officer
CHIA has designated the following employee as the Primary Records Access Officer (RAO) to assist with fulfilling PRRs.
Ms. Corine Peach, Primary RAO

Additional Information
CHIA does not perform individualized analyses, nor does it tailor the format or presentation of data in response to specific inquiries.
Data is also available from both the MA APCD and Case Mix databases. Learn more about requesting data from CHIA.
CHIA may charge administrative and search fees to cover staff time spent finding requested records. Fees for both public records and certain data requests may be paid online through the CHIA payment center.
Public Records Request Tips
Consider narrowing the scope of your request to expedite the production process. The first 4 hours of work in response to a PRR are free. After that, CHIA may charge up to $25 per hour.
Public agencies are required by law to protect personally identifiable information. Records with this information will be redacted, which may take more time. You can help by refining your request to avoid these records.
