CHIA Publishes Results from Quality Measure Catalog Survey

CHIA, in collaboration with the Health Policy Commission (HPC), today released an interactive dashboard with the results from the Quality Measure Catalog survey. Health care quality measurement serves an important role in ensuring that patients receive high quality care, identifying areas for improvement, and facilitating accountability. The shared results from the Quality Measure Catalog can aid Massachusetts policymakers, health care providers, payers and other industry leaders in identifying opportunities for improvement and encouraging accountability across the payer and provider community.

While quality measurement is critical, aligning measures used in global budget-based risk contracts helps to reduce administrative burden particularly for providers managing various measures across their payer contracts.

The Quality Measure Catalog is a voluntary survey—administered jointly by CHIA and HPC—that collects information on which quality measures payers have included in their global budget-based risk contracts with health care providers for the upcoming year. The survey is used to assess payer adherence to the Massachusetts Aligned Measure Set —an annually updated limited set of high-priority quality measures recommended by the EOHHS Quality Measure Alignment Taskforce.

CHIA’s interactive dashboard presents information about the composition of the Aligned Measure Set for contract years 2021-2023 as well as overall payer adherence to the set, details about specific measures used in contracts, and an overview of measures being stratified by race, ethnicity, and/or language in 2023 to support prioritization of health equity measurement and reporting.
